Global Maritime has expanded in the last decade thereby requiring trained personnel in engineering as well as the nautical field. As such trained graduate marine engineers are in widely accepted globally for their better capability, administrative skill and grasp of English language which is again universally accepted as the common language for interaction. PSNCET takes special pride in pioneering this branch of engineering in the whole state of Tamil Nadu and all endeavors are being made to teach the students all the nuances of theoretical, practical as well as etiquette mannerism. Over and above they would be made conversant with Marine regulations which are a must for sea fairer.

The institute offers a four year degree course in Marine Engineering from the academic session 2002-2003. The program is affiliated to Anna University. The department has been approved by D.G. Shipping vide approval number TRA/54/2004 dated 01.09.04. This college is the second Engineering College in Tamil Nadu to get approval from D.G. Shipping, Ministry of Transport and Shipping Government of India, to start the four year B.E. Marine Engineering Course. The department will be complete with full-fledged labs, modern equipment and experienced faculty. The present intake Capacity for Marine Engineering is thirty.

Weight: 48 kg minimum
(Weight should proportionate to height and age and accordingly allowable - 10%)

EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATIONS

Must pass 10+2 course with PCM and aggregate marks of at least 60%
Must have 50% marks in English at 10th or 10+2 standard.
The eligibility criteria for admission to second year Marine under lateral entry scheme is a pass with 60% marks in Diploma in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering or a pass in all the subjects in the I and II semester of B.E Mech./EEE.

MEDICAL FITNESS

Eye Sight: 6/12 maximum.
Should be free from diabetes and hyper tension.
Should be totally free from AIDS / HIV + ve.
Should not have any record of major ailments or functional disorders of major organs.
Candidates are to be medically examined prior to admission as per Merchant Examination Rules.

Our college has a tie-up with several International and National Ship Companies like Great Eastern Shipping, High Tide Ship Management Pvt.Ltd. Our last year 2002-06 Marine Engineering students have been placed in Tanker Pacific Ship Management, Paramount Ship Management, Great Eastern Shipping, and Univan Ship Management.
