The Department of Basic Science marches towards to creating the new entrants into successful engineers by giving basic knowledge about Science & Technology and the applications of science in technical field. The department takes its own effort to produce the engineers by giving them basic needs and ethics and also culture with commitment and full enthusiasm at the beginning of their technical studies. The department has dedicated and highly qualified faculty members and supporting staff members who direct attention towards teaching and training the budding engineers.

The laboratories are well equipped and facilitated for conducting experiments to the students. The Physics lab has all standard equipments and apparatus for conducting the required experiments and prepare the students to fit into the engineering field. The Chemistry lab has all apparatus and equipments with chemicals to perform all analytical practicals.
In English Communication lab all the audio visual equipments are available to promote the proficiency in English and the communication skill. A special coaching is offered to students in listening, speaking and reading skills in English so that they can be trained to possess sufficient communication skill.

Students

First year Basic Engineering course is common to the students of all disciplines of engineering. The course is of semester pattern with the sanctioned intake of 300 .The following value added programmes help the students to have clear idea and knowledge to perform well in their studies.

In order to develop peer guidance and counselling to the students, Tutor -ward meetings are conducted regularly.
Coaching classes are arranged in all the subjects to improve the academic performance of slow learners.

Activities

To promote career opportunities and to know more about the recent development in their chosen field of study, the students are made to join in the professional bodies, such as ISTE, IE (I) etc., and other activities. Class tests, monthly tests, mid year and model Examinations are conducted regularly to appraise the progress and performance of the students and the marks are displayed in the notice board. The answer scripts are distributed to the students individually in time by pointing out the mistakes. Parents are intimated about the absence of the wards daily and the performance of their ward. Counselling is given to every slow learners along with parent.
