Lord Jegannath College of Engineering and Technology (LJCET)
is built in a serene, green and vast campus at
Ramanathichanputhur, 15 Kms east of Nagercoil and 15 Kms
north of Kanyakumari. It is founded and run by PSN
Educational & Charitable Trust, P. S. Nadar Buildings,
Court Road, Nagercoil. The great visionaries behind the
establishment of this Promoting Body are a host of
munificent trustees with noble and charitable blend of
mind and is headed by the Managing Trustee and Chairman
Dr. P. Suyambu who carved out the PSN Nagar from
Marungoor. The Chairman who is a learned person with a
Doctoral Degree in Magneto hydrodynamics (BARC, Mumbai)
and a Doctorate in Law, with his team of Charitable
personalities as Board of Trustees has come out with the
vision and mission to start this new institution and
they have developed several prospective plans for growth
and development to achieve the goals and objectives.
Established I the year 2006, LJCET in this year have
plans to take giant strides in academic accomplishments
to acquire an unrivaled reputation in technical
education. The prime objective of the institutions is to
impart technical education to the neglected rural youths
and to bring them to the fore front in the society.

Objectives
1.To provide facilities and offer opportunities for
higher education in Engineering, Technology and
Allied Sciences by Instruction, Training, Research,
Development and Extension, and by such
other means as the University may deem fit.
2.To devise and implement a programme of education in
Engineering, Technology and Allied
Science that are relevant to the current needs of the
society, alive to the long term
requirements, and responsive to the anticipated changes
and developments, in terms of breadth
of diversity and depth of specialization.
3.To further advancement of knowledge in Engineering,
Technology and Allied Sciences, to
promote research to disseminate and advance the
knowledge thereon for the betterment of
society and to bring about a widespread awareness of the
tools and methods continuously
generated by the advances in Engineering, Technology and
Allied Sciences.
4.To serve as a centre for fostering co-operation and
exchange of ideas between the academic
and research community on the one hand and the
Industrial community and Government
employers on the other to promote entrepreneurship among
the students.

offers a four year (eight semesters) degree program in
engineering in the following disciplines:

The Master's Program
The institute also offers a two-year (four semesters)
post graduate program in
Master of Business Administration (MBA)
Master of Computer Applications (MCA) (6 Semesters)
The Faculty
The College has a well experienced faculty. The
Principal has an experience of three decades in the
field of higher education and has served as
Vice-Principal and Head of the Department of a century
–old college. He has published several research papers
in reputed journals and has conducted and convened many
national seminars.
All the Heads of the departments have served in the
field of higher education for more than two decades and
have immense experience in the field of teaching as well
as research. They are well experienced in student
counseling and career guidance which will be a very
useful for the overall growth of our students both
academically and personally.
The faculty members are very keen in bringing out the
hidden talents of our students and exposing them to the
recent trends in the various areas of technical
education. The faculty is also particular in providing
our students the best they can get in technical
education and also make them well placed in reputed
organization.
In addition to the regular academic schedule of our
students, the faculty will also arrange for periodical
training programmes and placement to enrich our students
in Aptitude and Communicative English which has become
an essential criterion for the present day placement in
reputed organizations.
SALIENT FEATURES
SCIENCE AND HUMANITIES
The Science and Humanities Department has well equipped
Physics and Chemistry laboratories. It has lab for
Communication English equipped with latest software and
a well furnished computer lab.
Central Computing Facility
The Central Computer Laboratory in the college is
equipped with adequate number of computers which will
function as the hub for all computer related programmes
to be offered. Internet services if provided for
students during the working hours of the Laboratory.
Local area network is also provided.
Central Workshop
The Central Workshop is provided with adequate
infrastructure to cater to the needs of the engineering
workshop related practicals of various programmes. The
tools and machine required for the workshop is provided
right from the initial stage.
Central Instrumentation Facility
The instrumentation centre in the campus will take of
most of the maintenance work of the equipments of the
various laboratories including the computers in the
college and it will also function as an additional
facility for students and faculty for students and
faculty to learn in the area of repair and overhauling.
Classroom
All classrooms are fitted with Over Head Projectors (OHP).
Audio-visual centre are also available with LCD
projectors. Classes for which more illustrations are
needed are conducted in the AV centres.
Health Centre
The health centre offers check-up and medical attendance
as and when needed. The health centre will remain open
during the college hours and students can contact the
Centre in-charge for medical assistance.
Canteen
The canteen provides hygienic food at a reasonable
price. Caterers who have vast experience in catering run
the canteen.
Transport
College buses ply between Marthandam (via Nagercoil),
Colachel (via Nagercoil), Valliyoor, Kanyakumari and the
college. The bus fare is nominal.
Career Guidance and Placement Cell
Placement training programmes are conducted from the
first year itself. Special attention is given to improve
the communication and aptitude skills of the students
and to build their confidence while attending
interviews. Special programmes are also arranged to
expose the students to various career a venues.
Assesment and Evaluation
There is a comprehensive and continuous evaluation by
means of semi-unit, unit, periodical, internal
assessment tests and a model examination. Te marks
scored by the students will be intimated to the parents
regularly.
Attendance
Attendance at regular classes and tests are very
important. Those who lack attendance will not be
permitted to sit for the University examinations. Late
comers will not be permitted into the classroom. The
attendance chart will be made available in the college
notice board as well as in the college website every
week. The attendance of irregular students will be sent
to their parents.
Grievances and Redressal
LJCET is very particular in providing a conducive
academic environment to the students. However, if the
students have any grievances they shall represent the
same to the convener of the Grievances and Redressal
cell. Steps will be taken to redress the grievance, if
the cell considers it to be genuine.
Value Education
The authorities of LJCET are very keen in promoting the
importance of human values. The college organizes
special classes for the students namely “value
Education”. The attendance for these classes is
compulsory.
Library
The library has a stock of more than 15000 books
consisting of both text and reference books along with
provision for newspapers, periodicals and both national
& international journals. In addition to the above the
library provides reprography spiral binding and
lamination services to help students in their learning
process. Facilities for in addition to these, LJCET
library having the digital library, contains E-Journals,
CDs and Floppies. Students can access the articles from
IEEE transaction, IEEE proceedings, IEE transactions in
the digital library.
Reading facility for 100 students in the library is also
available. Students can make use of a 24 hours central
library facility.

Eligibility and Fees
The eligibility and fees are prescribed by the
Government of Tamil Nadu. For more details you can

General
To Students
Student must come to college only in the prescribed
uniform.
Smoking is strictly forbidden on the college premises.
Use of alcohol and drugs is strictly forbidden on the
college premises. Any student found using or
having used alcohol or any other intoxicants would be
immediately dismissed from the college.
Usage of cell phones inside the college campus is
banned. Students are advised to adhere to thus
rule strictly. If possession of cell phone is found by
the college authorities then the cell phone will
be confisticated and heavy fine will be imposed.
Students must come to college on time. Latecomers are
not allowed to attend class. Rules related
to attendance stipulated by Anna University, Chennai are
strictly followed. Those who lack
attendance will not be permitted to write the university
examinations.
To improve the communication skills of students,
students should make use of the spoken English
and communication classes.
Students must attend all the semi-unit, unit,
periodical, internal assessment, monthly and model
tests without fail. Attendance is compulsory for the
tests.
The college is very particular about the all-round
moral, mental and intellectual development of
every student. The college expects the students to do
serious and sustained work and to make
use of the facilities offered by the college for their
all round development.
To Parents
The college expects the co-operation of the parents in
the education of their children. They are also advised
to meet the college authorities periodically and get
information about their children’s progress in studies,
attendance and their behavior and outside the college.
